This project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
RAISE – Raising Aspirations, Inspiring Self-Employment and Social Enterprise – aims to engage with disadvantaged individuals across the Black Country and raise their aspirations of self-employment and social enterprise creation. Most new entrepreneurs do not have all the knowledge or skills to run their business in the early stages and often develop / grow by doing and learning from their mistakes.
RAISE gives them practical support to develop the skills, knowledge and mentoring they need to succeed. These can also be applied to the more socially minded but who also need to tap int to their local communities for extra support.
SWEDA works with the Business Growth Hub and other strategic partners to ensure that those taking part are aware of wider help both locally and nationally where appropriate. The RAISE project aims to create sustainable businesses in the Black Country and to have positive impact on the financial impact of the region as well as create employment opportunities. In addition, the individuals helped by RAISE often face multiple disadvantages who may then be supported at looking at employment options where becoming self employed may not be judged as a viable option for them. The skills developed whilst on the project would make them more employable and we would then work with them to develop their job prospects.
