BEFORE What was the state of play with client? What obstacles were there? How difficult was life?

Before meeting with Des and the team at SWEDA I was unsure of how I wanted to structure my business. I felt very disconnected with the local community and I wasn’t sure about what sorts of services and skills would be valued.

What did SWEDA do? Describe what actions we took.

SWEDA gave me one-to-one business advice to answer my immediate questions and put me on a Business course for social enterprises. SWEDA have continued to offer advice and support as I’ve needed it and are continuing to involve me in community projects.

AFTER What is the impact to the client? How has their behaviour changed? What will be different now?

Due to SWEDA, I gained a much clearer view of the direction I wanted to take my business in and I met lots of people within the community. Through meeting with other members of the community like this, I became more confident in assessing the kinds of skills and services that are needed, and I have felt much more connected as a result.

How has the client’s life changed?

I have since built a workshop and have completed some small projects. Although I have decided not to start a social enterprise at this time, I am working closely with CICs and ensuring that I am providing a positive social impact within the community.

My life is now more focused with making the CIC a reality. I have gained in confidence and know about where to go to find support and create networks to support my business.
