Client: Kelly Marks
BEFORE What was the state of play with client? What obstacles were there? How difficult was life?
Kelly had previously been working for Tesco on a temporary contract during the Christmas period of 2023, following the end of her contract she was not offered a role with Tesco on a full time basis. Kelly was feeling very discouraged after this as she loved working at Tesco and put in her maximum effort to show what she could do to impress her Managers and Colleagues but this did not pay off. Kelly had not worked since this position and was growing frustrated that no employers were offering her opportunities to interview and felt that her skills were stagnating the longer she was out of work.
What did SWEDA do? Describe what actions we took.
Kelly was a previous client of SWEDA’s who assisted her in securing the role at Tesco during the last Christmas period; she felt comfortable attending there and had a good relationship with her previous Advisor. Kelly was welcomed back to SWEDA and sat her down explaining how her time at Tesco was and how many new things she had learned including assisting on the tills and self check out services in very manic and fast paced environments due to it being the Festive period. We began by agreeing achievable goals and Kelly wanted to find her way back into Tesco or any other Supermarket as she enjoyed working there..
Kelly did not have an up to date CV, we assisted Kelly in updating her last job role as Tesco incorporating all her new skills into the job description, key skills and profile all with the goal to tick as many boxes as possible for a leading supermarket to give her an opportunity.
Kelly answered all the questions with the advisor probing for extra details where required to give her knowledge and build independence if she ever had to add to her CV. The CV was then created the focus would turn swiftly to online job searching.
The new CV was uploaded to Kelly’s Indeed account.
Kelly pointed out that she did not feel confident in filling out large application forms and I.T. explained how we are more than happy to help, provide her with the support she needs to build her confidence to job search independently online during one to one job search support sessions. Kelly said this would be of great help and we arranged an appointment for her to attend every 2 weeks to apply for roles online.
Impact to the client?
Kelly was able to improve her I.T skills and with the backing of a good C.V she was able to
develop her skills and apply for work on her own initiative which has led to her find employment.
Kelly is now earning more than when she was on Universal Credit and is regularly offered overtime to add to this further to support her household.
Kelly is able to do more things now socially without thinking about money and her confidence has greatly improved. Kelly feels happy within herself right now and enjoys going to work where no 2 days are the same.
“Without your patience and understanding I would have never believed in myself to learn how to complete online applications.
Now I’m back in employment in a place love and I am just so grateful.
Thank you”
