What is the Social Enterprise Boost Fund
SWEDA is excited to announce that we are working with iSE to deliver The West Midlands Social Enterprise Boost Fund, to kick start and accelerate social enterprise activity in Wolverhampton and Sandwell.
The SEB Fund will run from now – March 2025 across County Durham, South Tyneside, Sunderland, Thanet, Sandwell and Wolverhampton. The Fund aims to grow and sustain the social enterprise sector in local areas and to share evidence on the impact of the Fund on social enterprises, and their impact on local areas.
The West Midlands Social Enterprise Boost Fund will offer a range of grants and targeted business support to help new and existing social enterprises start up, scale up and grow, creating positive social and environmental impact.
Are you Eligible for Support?
You are eligible to apply to the programme if:
You are a Wolverhampton or Sandwell resident that wants to start a social business that will trade in those areas.
You already run a social business trading in Wolverhampton or Sandwell that is less than five years old and has an annual turnover less than £250K.

Existing Social Enterprise Support
MOT – Social Enterprise Scale Up Programme
The 4 week Social Enterprise MOT has been designed to support organisations that are past the start up stage and ready to expand.
Programme Contents
An individual diagnostic covering key areas of development for your social enterprise
4 x 1hr online sessions to learn about:
- business development
- people management
- leveraging your social value
- governance and more
A surgery event with expert advisors
Access to a supportive community of social entrepreneurs and industry experts
Plus bespoke business support as needed
Opportunity to access a grant following completion of the programme (terms and conditions apply)
Do I have to be a CIC?
No, a wide range of social businesses will eligible for support, including but not limited to Community Interest Companies.
